1: The Girl From Phantasia
The story opens with Akihiro, the hapless young man at the center of this tale, dashing home excitedly because his girlfriend, Miyuki, is coming over. Along the way, he stumbles across an old oriental carpet in a trash pile. He is attracted to the beautiful carpet and quickly becomes lost in a fantasy about what he and Miyuki could do on such a rug.
Unfortunately. his fantasizing does not go unnoticed by the neighbors, who talk out loud about the strange behavior of Akihiro. This prompts Akihiro to make a speech about the wasteful nature of today's Japanese (as he marches off with the rug). Inside the carpet, a young girl called Malon hears his proclamation and thinks she has found the perfect human, full of compassion and caring.
Akihiro takes the carpet home and rolls it out in his bedroom. He cleans it and lies down on. He again begins to dream of what he plans to do with Miyuki on his new rug and announces aloud "I love you, carpet!" To his amazement, the carpet tells him that it loves him, and then the body of a girl rises out of the rug.
The girl, Malon, gives Akihiro a very warm embrace and tells him how happy she is. Akihiro says nothing but continues to squeeze her breasts, as they where what appeared directly beneath his hands when she emerged. Malon gives him a slap for his fresh behavior.
Malon explains, as she hangs the rug as a tapestry on the wall, that she is the knight sentry of the magical kingdom of Phantasia. The rug contains spells woven into it that allows passage between the two worlds, but no exchanges have happened in many years due to man's dark nature and selfish behavior. Just then, Akihiro's mother knocks on the door and Akihiro scrambles to find a place to hide Malon. But, Malon solves the problem by cast a spell over the mother, making her believe that Malon is a cousin that has come for an extended stay.
Akihiro is amazed at Malon's magic and begins to ask for the usual stuff (money, food, sex) but each time things doesn't quite turn out as he had hoped. While this is happening, Miyuki arrives and heads up to Akihiro's room. She enters and discovers Malon and Akihiro together on the bed. Miyuki storms off after giving Akihiro the old "pie in the face" treatment with a cake she had made.
Malon tries to understand why Akihiro is so mad but it just doesn't register. So she decides to make things better with magic. She conjures up cake and chocolates for Akihiro, but this just makes him even angrier. Finally, he tells her to get lost and that she can't solve everything with magic. Hurt, Malon tells him that she is human as well and runs off crying.
Akihiro, still mad, lies down on the bed when suddenly, strange man appears in his room and gleefully exclaims that he has found Phantasia. The man introduces himself as Roll and declares that it is his sole purpose in life to destroy Phantasia. He demands that Akihiro tell him the location of the sentry and Akihiro tells him she just left. Roll then leaves in pursuit.
Akihiro again lies back in bed only to have a foot planted squarely in his face from a leg that emerges from the carpet. Out come two more women, Short (the taller of the two) and Monbran. They are friends of Malon and have come to visit. They quickly learn what has transpired and guilt (somewhat intentionally) Akihiro into feeling bad (and responsible) for Malon. The three then set out to find her.
Meanwhile, Malon is being chased all over town by Roll. Roll is frustrated that Malon refuses to fight but Malon says that using magic makes Akihiro mad and she will not do anything that angers him. Eventually, the fight takes them to the top of an unfinished skyscraper. It is there that Short and Monbran catch up to them.
Short and Monbran launch an attack on Roll, but he is too powerful for them, and they are quickly knocked out of the fight. Things look dark for Malon and Phantasia.
But just then, Malon looks down and finds Akihiro on a ledge just below her. He tells her that he is sorry and that she should use her magic. Freed from the restriction, Malon unleashes a tremendous blast that sends Roll into soaring into outer space. She then dives down to embrace Akihiro. Together, they plummet to the ground below.
The next day, classmates question a heavily bandaged Akihiro about his theory regarding the mysterious blast of light of the night before. He says "plasma" but the students have already moved on to ask for Malon's opinion. Suddenly, Akihiro is cured and dashes out into the hallway with the uniformed Malon in tow. He demands to know what is going on and as the camera pulls back away from the squabbling couple, we see Short and Monbran in a nearby tree. This is where the video ends.
