Episode 1: Miku Steps Into The Ring: The Pretty Four vs. The Devil Sisters
The year: 2061. The place: Tokyo. In the future, professional wrestling has become an extremely popular sport centered around women athletes who wear strength-enhancing metal suits and perform amazing stunts. On the day at start of this video, two important events are scheduled.
The action begins with a young girl on a scooter she can barely control. As she crashes through crowds and vendors' stalls, she yells out her apologies. The cause of her great rush is the battle between Mad Kong, the meanest, dirtiest wrestler around and the reigning champion, Aquamarine. The girl makes it to the big match just in time for the introductions.
After Mad Kong is announced, Aquamarine appears. She is a mysterious woman with an even more mysterious past, and she hides it all behind a mask and sly smile. The two combatants begin, and the young girl cheers lustfully for her heroine. Aquamarine does not disappoint, as she easily defeats the opponent.
Meanwhile, across town, three other girls prepare in a backstage-dressing room for a press conference. The emcee nervously practices his lines and frets aloud over the missing fourth girl. The other girls, Ginko, Sayaka and Nana, comment that Miku, the missing girl, probably went to see Aquamarine fight. The emcee, Tokichiro Harajuku (who is also the girls' manager) moans over all the work lost in putting together is press conference due to Miku's absence.
Elsewhere in Tokyo, an old man and his grown daughter discuss the Aquamarine match. The old man, Kozo Shibano, the head of a large consulting firm, declares that he cannot understand the popularity of this wrestling and wants his firm divested of all involvement. The daughter counters that all the major players are claiming stakes in wrestling and that it's popularity will only continue to grow, but it is not until she mentions the name of Tokichiro Harajuku that Kozo suddenly changes his mind. He then orders Yoko to make sure that she utterly defeats Harajuku's TWP team at all costs.
Later, at the gym, Miku arrives and receives tongue lashing for her hooky-playing. Then she is assigned to clean the entire gym, by hand - no mops - by their coach, Masayo. Miku whines over her extra chores but is soon mollified by the other girls' eager questions about the Aquamarine bout.
Tokichiro and Masayo are called away by the arrival of a visitor, Yoko Shibano. Yoko challenges Harajuku to enroll his fighters in the upcoming JWMF championship tournament. But, Harajuku refuses and Yoko leaves. On her way back to her office, Yoko vows to get "The Pretty Four" into the tournament one way or another.
The next day brings the debut match for Miku. By prior agreement, Miku is chosen to fight in the number three slot. The girls are announced, and they go through their transformation sequence into their metal suits. Their opponents, The Devil Sisters, do the same and the match begins with the distribution of the energy balls.
Sayaka is the first to fight and she is overwhelmed by the vicious attack of the Devil Sisters. Nana quickly takes over and seems to be winning but is soon sidelined as well. But, then Ginko leaps in and usurps Miku's turn. It is then left to Miku to try and save the day. She rushes into the ring and manages to land a powerful blow on the Devil Sister. So powerful that it actually breaks her suit.
Suddenly, the Pretty Four are attacked out of nowhere by four mysterious wrestlers calling themselves "The Moonlight Jewels." The leader of the Jewels accuses the Pretty Four of "play acting wrestling" and challenges them to fight in the JWMF Tournament. Miku accepts the challenge and this is where the episode ends.
Episode 2: Miku Practices Hard: The Pretty Four vs. The Crushers
Episode two opens in the middle of a brawl at the registration ceremony for the JWMF tournament. Harajuku comments that he was lucky not to bring the girls to the event as he cowers in the corner.Later, back at the office, Harajuku reveals that the Pretty Four will be fighting the CWP Crushers in the first round. Miku is disappointed that she is not getting an opportunity to exact revenge on the Moonlight Jewels but she declares that they will make short work of "that team of gorillas."
But, Masayo cautions them not to be so confident. She explains that she has taught them the basic skills but that they are now going to be fighting on a new level. To prepare them for this, she has hired a new coach and, right on cue, there is a crashing and yelling from the gym.
In the gym, the girls find Kinta, the team's mechanic/handyman, confronting a "old drunk" who has fallen against a piece of gym equipment. The man calls for Masayo and Kinta is outraged that the drunk would be so forward as to use her first name. But, Masayo says it's all right and instructs the girls to welcome their new coach." This drunk?!" they exclaim with surprise. Masayo says yes and introduces him as Eiichi Suo.
Ginko, always the hothead, makes a few remarks and ends up charging the coach. He easily knocks her to the floor. The other girls join the fracas and find themselves suffering a similar fate. "What, you can even fall properly and you call yourself wrestlers?" the coach rumbles. As punishment for their behavior, he orders them to practice falling, in their full suits, 3,000 times.
Later, Kinta overhears Masayo and Tokichiro talking about the new coach. Tokichiro is shocked to learn that Suo is Aquamarine's former coach. Kinta care the news back to the girls, who first, do not know quite how to react to the news. That is except for Miku, is overjoyed at being coached by the same man who taught Aquamarine.
Over the next ten days, the coach puts the girls through the wringer. He makes them practice falls, do exercises and thousands of squats over and over again. Finally, at the end of practice with only one day to go before the first match, the girls finally make it through a round of 3,000 squats without collapsing from exhaustion. Coach tells them to hit the showers and take the next day off.
A day later, the girls are back in the arena and ready for the big match. They make their entrance and suit up. The Crushers also enter and transform, and the match begins. Ginko is first into the ring and is soon replaced by Sayaka. Sayaka softens up the Crushers and switches places with Miku. Miku leaps in to deliver the killing blow but finds herself facing a powerful Crusher, Roller. Roller transforms her suit in a huge rolling disc and bears down on Miku. Miku runs away but finds herself cornered. literally, after she leaps up onto a corner post. Roller takes advantage of the situation and attacks. She slams Miku into the mat and then switches off with another Crusher.
This Crusher leaps high in the air and prepares to finish off Miku, who is lying helplessly on the mat. But, just as she is about to strike, Miku rolls out of the way and counterattacks. "I know how to take a fall!" she cries as she flips the Crusher over into a pin. The ref begins his count as the other Crushers rush the ring. But, the remaining Pretty Four charge in as well and Miku gets the pin and the win.
As Miku stands triumphant, with her hand in the air, a reporter comments that she is much improved from her last match but then he spies Suo getting up and leaving the Pretty Four's sidelines and he remarks "So that is why." Suo, meanwhile, heads for the nearest bar and knocks back a glass commenting "I'm getting too old for this." This is where the episode ends.
Episode 3: Miku's Special Training: The Pretty Four vs. The Lady Ninjas
The third episode of the Metal Fighter Miku series opens with the match between the Moonlight Jewels and the Shuffle. At first, it appears that the Shuffle has the upper hand but soon enough, Sapphire, the leader of the Jewels, takes command of the battle. Miku and the others girls watch in horror as Sapphire completes a particularly nasty pile-driver move on one of the hapless Shuffle. They comment that Sapphire is inhuman as she leaves the ring.
Back at the gym, Kinta argues with Coach Suo over that fact that the coach has not given the girls a break as a result of their victory. The coach retorts that if Kinta thinks that they had a meaningful victory, he is dreaming and Kinta gets angry. It is then that the girls enter and join the fracas.
The coach asks them why do they wear metal suits and the girls answer "to count hit points...to increase strength...to become better fighters" and the coach yells "Wrong!!!" Miku then asks him to explain why do they wear the suits and he answers, "To look cool." The girls and Kinta burst out laughing and Miku ask him to please be serious and Coach Suo responds that he is dead serious. "Real fighting happens with your bodies, not some suit." and the girls realize that he is right.
So Coach Suo orders them to wear special weights around their wrists, ankles and waists. The girls can barely stand under the weight and Nana falls down as Masayo enters. "What is going on?" she asks and the girls plead for her to get them an exemption from the arduous training. But, she says that she placed them in the hands of Coach Suo and whatever he says goes.
The coach then puts them through many exercises, all with the weights on and the girls fall often under the strain. Eventually, they grow accustomed to the weights and begin to appreciate their newfound balance and strength. But, even as Nana celebrates being able to run and not fall down, Kinta arrives with surprising news; Coach Suo is quitting!
Meanwhile, at Shibano Consulting Headquarters, Kozo berates his daughter fro not eliminating the Pretty Four. She tells her father not to worry about such second-rate players, but he will hear nothing of it. Yoko leaves mystified over her father's obsession with the TWP and runs into her brother in the hall. He asks what is bothering her and when she explains, he remarks that she does not know about the history between Harajuku and Shibano but that she will learn soon enough.
At the same time, Masayo and Suo talk over coffee at the local cafe. Masayo has just learned of Suo intentions to quit and demands answer. But, Suo is not forthcoming with a response. Masayo makes an educated guess (Miku is too much like Aquamarine) and hits the nail right on the head. She then gets mad and calls Suo a "spineless man" and swears that she would never allow her girls to be trained but such a man. This hits home and, although he does not verbally agree to remain their coach, he does stop drinking from his hip flask and returns to the gym with Masayo.
At the gym, the girls, believing Coach Suo is history, have removed their muscle gear and resumed the old training habits. But, Miku suddenly puts her gear back on and the other girls ask why. "I had just started to get use to them. It seems a shame to let that training go to waste," she answers. The other girl then put the weights back on as well.
Just then, a group of four shadows appear in the gym's window. Ginko cries out and the four "Lady Ninjas" crash through the window. They are in full armor and immediately attack the exposed girls. Coach Suo and Masayo rush up and the Coach cries out "Remove the muscle gear!" They do and leap into the air as Kinta tosses out their metal suits. The girls don their armor and fight with the Ninjas.
The fight spills out into the street, and the reporter and photographer from the "Weekly Neo Pro" paper capture all the action as the women fight. As usual, at first the Pretty Four are on the defensive. But soon enough, they are holding their own and defeat the Ninjas. As they pose for pictures, Masayo asks Suo if he still thinks they have no potential and will he be the one to transform them from rough stones to sparkling diamonds. The Coach's response is to smile ever so slightly. This is where the episode ends.
Episode 4: Miku Under Suspicion: The Pretty Four vs. The Maskers
The fourth episode opens with the Pretty Four in battle with the Maskers. Nana is up first and she knocks her opponent to the mat. Ginko then leaps in and takes up the fight. She softens the hapless Masker and trades with Miku so that she can finish off the fight. But, Miku pauses and fails to deliver the knockout punch. Instead, she passes the energy ball to Sayaka and allows her to be the one who wins the match.
All of this observed by Kozo and Nagayo Shibano from their penthouse office. Kozo swears that he will wipe that smile from the face of Harajuku and beckons Nagayo closer. He whispers a plan to the younger man and they both laugh out loud with devilish glee.
Back at the gym, Masayo introduces a new trainee, Maki Yoshihara. She expresses her great desire to train with the famous Pretty Four and promises to do anything, including the chores, if they allow to join. The girls vote to accept her and Maki jumps with joy.
The next day, as the girls train, Maki cleans and dashes around industriously. She runs up to the girls and asks whether she should do the laundry now. The girls say yes and she heads off. The girls comment on how nice it is to have such a hardworking trainee, but Coach Suo dampens their spirits when he reminds them that with the new girl around, any of them could be replaced if Maki becomes more skilled or stronger.
As the girls absorb the sobering thoughts, they hear a shriek. They dash upstairs and run into Kinta, who heard it as well. They get to the laundry room to discover Maki lying on the floor unconscious. Kinta goes over to pull the plug on a malfunction washing machine and discovers that the cord has been cut. Maki says that she just went to turn it on and got shocked.
Later, in the showers, the girls talk about the cut the cord. They decide that it must have been an accident because nobody in their group would do such a terrible thing. Sayaka then heads into the shower and turns on the water. The next you know, Sayaka is having finger bandaged from the scald she received. Again, Kinta finds signs of tampering, but no one is willing to accept that there is a saboteur in their midst.
The next day, Ginko and Nana are training in the ring while wearing their metal suits. Suddenly, the suits go out of control and the girls are tortured by the machines. Suo yells for Kinta to shut down the suits but the computer is not responding. Finally, Kinta pulls the plug on the machine and the suits shut down. "I think I am going to puke," says Ginko. "I am going to die," moans Nana. Out a corner, Maki spies on the events and an evil glint is in her eyes.
They gather in the dining room to discuss the nefarious activities and soon realize that Miku is the only one who has not been attacked. Miku proclaims her innocence but the others are already suspicious. Coach Suo decides to settle the matter in the ring and order the girls and Maki to meet him in the gym in ten minutes.
Miku chases the coach out of the room and stops him on the stairs. "Do you think I did it?" she asks. The coach responds by asking Miku if she knows what her biggest weakness is. He then turns and leaves.Down in the gym; the coach orders everyone into the ring for a battle royale. The first one to lose will be the saboteur. Miku protests but all of the others girls attack any ways. Soon, Miku is knocked out of the ring and she ends up lying on the floor. The coach towers over her and says that her greatest weakness is not fighting with everything in the ring. "The ring is a jungle, and everyone in it is a beast. You have no friends in the ring!" he tells Miku. Miku listens and jumps back into the ring.
It is just then that the reporter from the "Weekly Neo Pro" magazine enters and delivers surprising news to Suo. Maki is a Shibano trainee! The girls turn and growl but Miku says that this one is hers. The two girls fight and Miku emerges victorious. But, even as Maki lies beat on the floor, Miku extends a friendly hand and says "Good fight. Next time, let's do it in front of a full house." Maki takes the hand and smiles while everyone else applauds.
Back at Shibano headquarters, Yoko berates her father for his spurious use of the Lady Ninjas and Maki. As a result of the events, Maki leaves the Shibano organization and this does not sit well with Yoko at all. All Kozo can do under the blast is slide further and further down in his chair.
Back at the TWP gym, Masayo reveals why the Shibano's have such a grudge against Harajuku. It seems that Kozo Shibano has bullied poor Tokichiro Harajuku all his life and thing s only got worst after Harajuku bested Shibano in a business deal. The girls decide to prove Harajuku is the better man and promise to defeat Shibano and win the championship. This is where the episode ends.
Episode 5: Miku Turns Into A Chicken: The Pretty Four vs. the Beauties of Nature
In the fifth installment of the Miku Series, team is on the road to their next bout. As they cruise along in their bus, Ginko, Nana and Sayaka tease Miku and Kinta about their affection for each other. Unfortunately, the teasing distracts Kinta and they nearly have an accident. Because of the near miss, Miku's shoulder is injured but she chooses not to tell anyone.
They arrive at the inn and encounter the innkeeper chasing his rooster in the courtyard. They are shown to their room and told of a special hot spring on the property. Ginko, Nana and Sayaka head promptly for the spring, leaving Miku behind.
Later that evening, while at dinner, Sayaka playfully slaps Miku on her shoulder. Miku is knocked to the floor by pain and they quickly call for a doctor. The prognosis is not good; a shoulder injury that will sideline Miku for the upcoming match. Unfortunately, if they enter the ring with less than four fighters, the team is disqualified and is out of the All Japan Neo Pro Wrestling tournament. The other girls swear to defeat their opponents so that Miku will not have to fight.
The next day, as the girls (minus Miku) train, reporters from the wresting magazine arrive. They note that only three girls are training and inform Coach Suo that the opposing team has a "secret weapon." Hearing this, Kinta heads off to investigate.
Kinta sneaks into the hotel of the other team and observes their practice but is caught. They unceremoniously drop the beaten Kinta into the hot spring while Ginko, Nana and Sayaka are bathing. Meanwhile, Miku attempts to help the poor innkeeper to catch his wayward rooster. They corner the bird but it suddenly leaps in the air and escapes. "He always does that. Allows you to think you have him cornered, and then he escapes," remarks the innkeeper. Miku records the incident in her mind.
The next day brings the match. At first, everything seems to go right for the Pretty Four. Nana is up first and easily defeats two of the challengers. Sayaka then enters the ring and takes down her opponent. But, Ginko then leaps in and suddenly learns that it has all been a carefully constructed trapped. Soon, Ginko is wrapped up and in danger of losing.
But, Miku's shoulder is still not healed and she can barely hold onto the energy ball. But her will to fight is enflamed by the image of Ginko being tortured. She slams the energy ball into her suit and charges into the ring. She dodges the blows and weapons of the challenger and allows herself to be backed into a corner.
Once there, the challenger gloats over her impending victory but Miku leaps into the air and makes a spectacular move that defeats the opponent. The battle is won and the Pretty Four are victorious. Up in a private booth, Yoko observes the winners and mutters "Miku - I underestimated you." This is where the episode ends.
Episode 6: Miku Falls Head Over Heels: The Moonlight Jewels vs. The Amazons
Episode six opens with Nagoya Shibano being berated by his father, Kozo, over Nagoya's failed attempts at defeating the Pretty Four. But, Nagoya is not flustered and simply comments that he has a plan that is sure to work. Nagoya then gets up and leaves.
The scene shifts to the hospital, where Ginko is recovering from the abuse she took in the previous battle (episode 5). As she cries out, "I'm bored, I'm bored, I'm bored!!", in walks a mysterious man with a bouquet of flowers. At first, Ginko thinks that he has the wrong room, but the man (who is actually Nagoya) tells her that he is a talent scout from an organization that represents wrestlers and he is very interested in her. They talk a little more and then Nagoya leaves.
On his way out, he passes Kinta in the hall. When Kinta enters the room, he asks Ginko about the strange man. Ginko replies she does not know him and he must have had the wrong room but Kinta senses something is wrong when he spies the bouquet on the bed stand.
Out on the street, Miku, Nana and Sayaka take a stroll through the marketplace. They comment on how nice a day it is and when they think Ginko will get out of the hospital. Then they stumbled across a man being mugged. The muggers whip out a knife and Miku leaps to action. She races up and kicks the knife away. The other girls join the fight, and it is soon over. The muggers flee and Miku prepares to give chase. But the man stops them. He thanks them and then invites Miku to lunch (leaving the two other girls behind.)
During lunch (at a swanky seaside restaurant), he learns that Miku is a Neo Pro Wrestler. He comments that a young girl like her should live like other young girls and urges her to "look around" and see what she is missing. The entire restaurant is filled with young couples fawning over each other and Miku begins to succumb to his charms. When Miku returns to the gym, the other girls tease her about her date, much to Kinta's dismay. But, the seed of doubt has already been planted and Miku begins to question her career as a wrestler.
The next day, in practice, Miku and barely focus and makes many beginner's mistakes. So, the coach forces all the girls to repeat their training. While they run a 30 Km jog, Miku attempts to broach the subject of why they wrestle but the other girls ignore her.
Later that day, Ginko returns home from the hospital and goes to inform the coach of her readiness to return to training. But, before she can get to him, she overhears the coach and Masayo talking about her. Ginko hears that she is to be excluded from the upcoming match and she leaves dejected. She misses hearing why (there is not enough time to get her into condition) and she falls into a funk.
At dinner that night, things are strained. Nana and Sayaka are too tired to talk and Miku is too caught up in her own self-doubt to pay attention. Ginko, unfortunately, takes this as a sign of her growing uselessness and further questions herself.
The next day, Nana and Sayaka go to watch the match between the Moonlight Jewels and the Amazons. But, neither Ginko or Miku attends. Instead, Ginko calls "the agent" (who is actually Nagayo) and has a conversation with him and Miku goes on a date with her man (who is also Nagayo) where he asks her to give up wrestling.
Back in the ring, Nana and Sayaka watch in disbelief as Sapphire of the Moonlight Jewels uses amazing power and moves to utterly defeat the Amazons. Ginko lies back in her bed and murmurs "America" aloud while Miku stands in shock at her "boyfriend's" request. This is where the episode and the first disc end.
