In the distant future, a massive solar flare has decimated Earth's population and wrapped the planet in a thick space-borne fog. But, this has not deterred humans from moving out into space. Many teenagers and young adults choose to train for a new life in space and that begins on the space station known as Liebel Delta. It is here that 487 children of all ages find themselves challenged to mature fast after an accident strands them in space.

This series draws very opinionated results from its viewers. They either love the hard science/teen angst story or despise it. The characters are well defined and each seems to have a hidden flaw or dark secret waiting to be revealed. The attention to space science is strong, though this world is not as sharply and thoroughly imagined as the universe of Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars. It is a slow building story but well worth the ride.
