Once upon a time, in a distant mystic land, eight gods descend from the heavens and became rulers of the lands and the seas. But, one god became greedy and evil and sought to rule the world alone. The other gods joined forces to defeat the tyrant and sealed him away on a southern island called Gestalt.
Centuries later, peace now reigns but all live in dread fear of the dark island to such an extent that to speak its name brings doom. Therefore, it is only known as "G". Among the people there exists a group of priests called the Vasaria Order who can performing miracles. One day, one of the most devout and powerful of these priests, known as Olivier, decides that he must go to the island of "G" and learn the truth.
The leader of the order, Father Messiah, is distraught that Olivier is gone and, with reluctance, hires a dark elf called Suzu to track down Olivier and bring him back to the order. The elf uses her powers to divine where the priest is and summons a huge red dragon to fly her there.
Meanwhile, Olivier is waking up at the inn in the small town where he spent the night. The innkeeper brings him tea and tells him that breakfast is ready whenever he is ready. She is so excited that an actual Vasaria priest stayed at her inn that she tells Olivier that she will put up a sign saying so. Olivier quickly pleads with her not to do such a thing and agrees to perform a miracle in exchange for no sign.
Olivier goes outside to find a small crowd gathered. He murmurs a small prayer for forgiveness in demonstrating his powers and then performs a small miracle, causing the bare trees to burst into full bloom with bright pink cherry blossoms. The innkeeper thanks him and tells him that she left a small token of appreciate in his room.
Olivier heads up to his room and enters to find a very attractive young girl waiting on his bed. Olivier cries out "Wrong room!" and backs out and then checks the room number. He reenters and finds the girl still sitting there.
He approaches her and she squeaks a bit as a pop-up screen shows what she is saying (kinda like a dialogue panel in a computer game). She welcomes her "master" and Olivier is not only able to understand her but he "sees" the panel. Quickly they determine that she cannot speak and that she is the gift the innkeeper spoke of. Olivier grabs and leads her right down to the front desk.
There, Olivier tells the innkeeper that there is no way he could accept another human being as a gift. The innkeeper implies that she would be "good" for him as she is 18, a virgin and "delicious". This only flusters the priest more. Finally, the innkeeper and the girl play on the kindhearted nature of the priest and he relents and accepts the girl. The two of them then leave.
As they walk through the woods, Olivier tells the girl that she is free to leave but she refuses. Olivier then tries to get some background on the girl and learns that she comes from a "newly freed island in the south." Then when Olivier attempts to explain his quest, the girl says the forbidden name (Gestalt) and throws Olivier into fits. But, their conversation is ended by the arrival of Suzu.
Suzu asks the priest to come quietly but he refuses. She then launches a fireball at Olivier, who counters with a "miracle" that provides them with a magic shield. But, both Suzu and Olivier know that he can only perform defensive magic. It is then that Ohri, the girl, pleads with her master to free her from the spell of silence which she is under. He hems-and-haws but finally gives in, with Ohri sneaking in a kiss for good measure.
Freed of the spell, Ohri makes short work of the elf by using her own magic. Ohri is a powerful sorceress. Suzu is blown away, and Olivier and Ohri resume their journey. They arrive at a city called Dangai in the country of Bimol where they discover the gruesome sight of a crucifixion. They learn that the captain of the guards was placed upon the cross for treason against the king. They also learn that a terrible contest, where the losers are fed to a monster, will take place in the arena the following day to determine the new captain.
That night, because they have no money, Ohri attempts to sell her body to a man (despite the protests from Olivier). But, the man she chooses is a fortune teller and he is surprised when he looks at her because he sees a different Ohri at first glance. Ohri also realizes that the fortune teller has seen behind her facade. But, then a man comes stumbling out in the light and the fortune teller, knowing the man, races to help him. Ohri and Olivier go with him.
The foursome returns to the fortune teller's home where Olivier and Ohri learn that the King has been unseen since the royal wedding and that the kingdom has become sadistic since that event. Meanwhile, at the castle, another sorcerer, Shoushi, stands atop a tower and ponders who will be his first opponent in the game. He is then summoned down to the Queen, who attempts to seduce him.
Back at the fortune teller's Ohri and Olivier prepare for bed. As they do so, Ohri tells Olivier that others from her island, her "brothers and sisters" are also among the people and that they are playing a game to determine who is the strongest. She reveals that the enchantment that prevented her speech was a handicap placed upon her. She then ask for another kiss/dispelling from Olivier to free her completely, but he declines, bright red from embarrassment.
The next day, the big contest begins and two men battle in the ring. Ohri, the fortune teller and Olivier watch from the stands and are horrified when, as promised, the loser is fed to a carrion crawler, a huge slug-like monster with a beak.
Fed up, Olivier leaps up and demands that the King put an immediate stop to the barbaric games. But, the Queen orders Olivier's arrest instead. As the guards rush forth to seize him, Ohri leaps up to defend Olivier and it then that Soushi spies Ohri. They lock glances and Soushi realizes that his powerful "sister" is present. "So that's the handicap she was given," he remarks to himself as she strikes a defiant pose. This is where the first episode ends.
Episode 2 opens right where the first episode ended - with Olivier and Ohri confronting the Queen from the floor of the arena. Ohri prepares to use her magic to end the contest but Olivier stops her by reminding her that her magic would also harm all the spectators. Olivier then demands to hear if the King truly approves of the evil games and is shocked to see the King nod yes. The Queen then orders the guards to take the two to the prison so that they can be sentenced later.
But, Olivier protests that the cruel contest must end and the Queen decides that Olivier should be the next combatant. If he wins, the games end. Ohri asks her master how plans to prevail and he reveals that he once studied to become a sage (a powerful magic user). Ohri perks up at the news but then deflates just as quickly when Olivier points out that he does not actually know any attack magic.
Ohri then decides to prevent Olivier from fighting but knocking him out and then taking his place. Raja and Shazan come running up and taking the unconscious priest away. Shazan gives Ohri a talisman to help her and Ohri enters the carrion crawler's cage.
Meanwhile, Suzu has found her way to the stadium and enters just in time to see the start of Ohri's fight and up in the royal box, Soushi vows that Ohri better not lose because he has waited too long for the opportunity to beat her.
Ohri dodges and ducks the attacks of the crawler but with her magic is still sealed, she cannot stop the monster. Just then, Olivier awakes and realizes that Ohri is in trouble. He dashes over to the cage and Ohri races up to him. She pleads with him to give her another kiss so that her powers can be unlocked, but Olivier is reluctant in front of such a large crowd. But, as the crawler's tentacle wraps around her waist, Olivier relents and gives her the kiss.
Suddenly, the entire stadium is filled with a blinding white light and the crawler is destroyed. "How can Ohri have such power?" marvels Soushi. "I knew she was more than just a regular sorceress." exclaims Suzu. The light fades and only Ohri remains. There is no sign of the crawler or the cage.
"Who is that girl?" asks the Queen and Soushi replies that she is to be his next opponent in the game. Soushi then leaps out and begins to fight with Ohri. While they fight, Shazan notices that the Queen's ears have changed shape and are same as Suzu's. He races up the stairs to the royal box and throws a knife at the Queen. She stops the blade but reveals her true appearance as a dark elf.
The crowd reacts with shock as they learn that she not only killed their King but also killed Raja's brother, the captain of the guards. The Queen then attacks both Shazan and Olivier with her magic. Ohri, who has been sparring with Soushi, is distracted by the sight of the assault and leaves an opening for Soushi as she rushes to Olivier's aid.
Soushi summons his powers and calls upon the waters of the Earth to attack Ohri. A huge tidal wave appears above the stadium and floods it. Ohri yells "How could you!" at Soushi for his cruel act as all the spectators are swept under the rising water.
But the waters are quickly dispelled by Suzu - who summons her pet fire dragon - and Shazan, who uses his magic to defeat the water sprites that Soushi summoned. Soushi then attempts another attack but Ohri stops him with her own magic.
But just as Ohri is about to finish Soushi off, a blast of fire strikes her. She releases Soushi and turns to face the new threat. It's the Queen riding atop a huge fire salamander (dragon) and she has Olivier with her. The Queen lands and dumps Olivier to the ground. She rushes to the unconscious Soushi and orders her salamander to finish both Suzu and Ohri.
The girls find themselves trapped against the wall of the stadium with no escape as the monster approaches. Ohri tells Suzu to summon her salamander but she explains that like salamanders cannot battle each other. That fact stimulates Ohri's memory and Ohri summons a rock salamander - a small white salamander that looks like pokemon. The rock salamander unleashes a huge icy blast at the much larger fire salamander and completely encases it in ice.
The Queen is stunned at the loss. Ohri cracks her knuckles and moves towards the Queen and Soushi. But before Ohri can attack, Soushi awakes and summons a huge water dragon. Soushi and Queen board the dragon, and the Queen grabs Olivier as well and the threesome disappears into the sky.
The Queen returns to her castle and places Soushi gently on the bed while she puts Olivier into a swinging chair. She then decides to relieve herself of the "troublesome" priest and starts to lower him into the pit beneath the chair.
As the chair descends, Olivier, still unconscious, has a vision in which he meets a beautiful god. The god gives him a magical shaft of wheat and warns him of approaching danger. Olivier attempts to get the god's name but he cannot hear him. When Olivier asks him to repeat his name, the god explains that his name can only be heard by those ready to it. The god disappears, and Olivier awakens.
He wonders if he were only dreaming but then discovers the wheat in his hand. He then realizes his predicament as he spies the carrion crawlers beneath him. Above, the Queen gloats as the priest draws nearer to his doom. But, even as she revels, Soushi senses the approach of Ohri and he heads out to meet her.
Outside, Suzu and Ohri zoom in on the back of her salamander. Soushi appears on his water dragon and challenges Ohri. She ignores Soushi, leaving him to Carmine, and rushes into the castle to save Olivier. There, she encounters the Queen and being tired of her trouble, uses her magic to blow the Queen right out the window.
Meanwhile, down the pit, Olivier remembers the instructions of the mysterious god and prays using the special shaft of wheat. A powerful glow fills the air, and the monsters are destroyed. Ohri shouts down to Olivier and is overjoyed to learn that he is safe. It is then that Soushi suddenly appears and knocks Ohri into the shaft with a magical blow.Ohri falls and bounces of a number of rock projections before landing hard. Soushi gloats, believing that he has finally beaten Ohri while Olivier climbs the chain to reach the unconscious girl.
Outside, Suzu and her salamander continue to battle with the huge water dragon while the dark Queen, bruised and dirty, decides that it is time to cut her losses. But, even as she prepares to leave, she finds herself surround by a crown of armed men, lead by Raja and Shazan.
Inside the castle, Olivier reaches Ohri and pleads with her to wake up. Slowly, she opens her eyes. As she lies there in his arms, Ohri confesses her love for Olivier and asks for one kiss; Olivier obliges.
But back outside, things look bleak for Suzu and her salamander. Suzu has been knocked to the ground and she appears to have suffered a broken arm while Her salamander has gotten caught by the water dragon, which is slowly crushing it to death. Then Soushi appears from the shadows, announcing that Ohri is dead and that he will now kill Suzu.
"Don't speak so soon," calls out Ohri as she appears atop a tower. "How?" sputters Soushi as he unleashes a huge blast at her. "That's it! I must have defeated her with that blow." he declares but as the smoke clears, Ohri stands untouched. She then fires an enormous blast at Soushi.
Curiously, as she chants, a male form and voice appear superimposed in front of her. Is this the true form of Ohri? Soushi is stunned and the water dragon stops fighting, scoops up the defeated Soushi and they both flee.
Simultaneously, Raja and Shazan have managed to drive the Queen to the edge of a ravine. There, she attempts to summon her magic but loses her balance in the process. She plummets into the bottomless gorge and Raja and Shazan speculate whether she could survive.
The next morning, Raja, Shazan, and Suzu see Olivier and Ohri off at the city gates. Olivier thanks Shazan for tending to Suzu's wounds while Suzu swears to track Olivier down once she is well and return him to the order. But in the interim, she charges Ohri with Olivier's well-being. Ohri accepts the challenge and promises to keep him safe from all danger, including Suzu. The credits then roll and at the end of the closing song, Olivier and Ohri appear one last time so that Olivier can say "Let's go, Ohri. Let's go to G - to Gestalt!" This is where the episode, video, and OAV end.
