Episode 1: Mink's Voyage
The anime opens with Mink watching her idol, the rock star and dragon slayer, Dick Saucer on TV. Suddenly, a swordsman comes crashing into the room, battling a red dragon. The man, Ruth, renown as the unbeatable "red lighting" exchanges barbs with the dragon. Mink's TV is knocked to the floor during the fighting and this angers her. She punches Ruth in the face and tells her mother and father to stop their squabbling. The red dragon then transforms into a pretty blond woman.
Mink's father, Ruth, upset by Mink's interference, accuses her of just lying about the house, "drooling at that Sausage guy all morning." Mink then pulls out a fan magazine with Dick Saucer's picture on the cover and proceeds to describe just how great he is. Ruth responds by using the magazine as a tissue to blow his nose. Mink is horrified and worried that slime will now grow on her beloved Saucer. Ruth gloats and says that Mink is just like her "idiot mother." This irks Mink's mom to the point where she stabs Ruth in the arm.
Mink's mother then tries to explain her husbands actions by saying that he is jealous of Dick Saucer's fame. Mink declares that her own father is nothing more than a garbage pile in comparison with Dick Saucer. She then recovers her TV and plays a recording she had made earlier of her hero. Dick Saucer appears on the screen and begins to sing a song about himself. An enthralled Mink sways to Saucer's music while her father nails a voodoo doll version of Saucer to the wall, muttering "kill Saucer" to himself. The action then switches to royal castle.
There, in the King's throne room, we see a small creature (some sort of evolved slug) reporting to the King that Ruth, the swordsman, has been found. This causes the king to recall, via a flashback, how Ruth betrayed him by marrying the dragon instead of killing it. The king vows that Ruth must die for his traitorous action. And once Ruth is dead, then the way will be cleared for the new widow to become the King's new wife. The royal wise man points out that though Ruth would be dead, there is no guarantee that the red dragon would marry the King. The King and the advisor laugh and while they are chuckling, the King pulls a rope which causes a large stone block, labeled "Ye King's Anger" to fall from above onto the hapless sage.
A low cloud of mysterious fog then rolls into the throne room and deep voice speaks from the shadows. It is Rosario, the dark magician. He asks to be allowed to handle the Ruth matter. The King asks why he should let him handle it, and Rosario response is that Ruth is too skilled a fighter to be challenged directly. The best way to capture Ruth would be to kidnap Ruth's daughter, Mink. The King agrees and Rosario leaves, stopping momentarily to pick up his bucket of dry ice (used to create his entrance fog).
A little bit later, back in her village, Mink meets up with two of her friends, Pia and Lufa. Pia has just gotten the new Dick Saucer CD and wants all of them to go and listen to it. From the jacket, Mink notices that Dick Saucer will be having a concert soon nearby. The threesome sigh together as they realize that the concert site is a week's journey away and that is most likely sold out. They then split up to take care of chores.
As they depart, Rosario pops up out of the nearby shrubs.Mink is then off hunting for the day's dinner (which will be a stew once she downs a slow moving floating animal). She is heading back with her kill when she comes across a Dick Saucer ticket lying on the path. She begins to reach down for the ticket but then changes her mind and leaves it there. She reasons that whoever bought the ticket in the first place must be a big fan and will come back looking for it. Actually, the ticket is part of Rosario's trap and is lying above a hidden pit.
Frustrated that Mink did not follow his plan, Rosario snaps the rod he was using in half, one end thwacking him in the face. He then draws out a blowpipe from his robe. He places a dart in the tube and shoots at Mink. The shot lands and Mink drops. Rosario dashes over and shots a few more darts into her.The scene then shifts back to the palace.
The King and Rosario believe that Mink is dead, having had 3 poison darts shot into her. At first, they think the plan is ruined but Rosario says they can still use the body as bait. As they celebrate their own brilliance, Mink wakes up. The surprised men first think Mink must be a zombie, to have survived the dart attack. When Mink hears herself called a zombie though, she becomes enraged and smashes a suit of armor with a single punch. Rosario swings into action and offers Mink an apple as a "peace offering. Mink refuses, claiming the apple is poisoned. Rosario is shocked that his "snow white strategy " has failed.
The King then attacks with his stone block from above. Mink easily smashes the stone to gravel. Mink is now really pissed and begins to breathe fire. The king cowers on the floor and warns her not to come any closer or he will cry. He then reaches into his robe and pulls out a Dick Saucer ticket. Mink snaps up the ticket and sprouts wings. She flies happy circles around the throne room and then smashes her way out of the castle. The King lets loose a heavy sigh and announces "that was scary."
Mink goes to the concert hall but is angry to learn that the ticket she received is fake (it even says fake on the back). Mink announces that she will be avenged and vows to get that old man. Just then a purple hair girl called Vina approaches the ticket taker. She asks who the troublemaker is, and Mink replies that she is an innocent girl taken in by an evil blockheaded old man. Vina asks Mink to describe the man and she realizes that Mink is talking about her own father. She tells Mink that she is the daughter of the King, and the president of the Dick Saucer fan club and anyone who defames her father must die. Vina then creates a ball of energy in her hand, which becomes a powerful golem.
The golem and Mink then battle. But, the golem lands an uppercut on Mink which sends her flying through a wall. Vina laughs over her victory and goes to see the fallen Mink. She is horrified to see Mink lying atop Dick Saucer, kissing him. Mink awakens simultaneously and quickly realizes the situation as well. She stammers her apologies while slipping a note to the idol. But, Vine burns up the letter in a jealous rage. Mink cries foul and then Vina unleashes her most devastating attacking.
She tells Mink that Dick Saucer would never go out with her because she has a tail and is part dragon. Dick Saucer is a famous dragon killer, and therefore, it would be against nature from them to be together. Crushed by Dick's words, Mink runs off crying.
Meanwhile, back at the castle, the King has summoned Damaramu, a fighter, to the throne room. He tells him that he is to find and kill Mink. While this is going on the two principle female characters ponder what their next step should be.
Mink is depressed that she is trapped by fate but Lufa says that she has heard of a potion that can make Mink all human. And at the castle, we learn the painful past of Princess Vina, the slime-half daughter of the king. As Vina recounts the sad tale of her past, we learn about the people potion, the same spell that Mink now seeks. The King enters Vina's room just as Vina aloud vows to defeat Mink and win Saucer for herself. He commands Vina to leave Mink to him and have no further contact with her. The two then have a comical battle.
The action then cuts back to Mink, Lufa and Pia, who have set out in search of the potio and soon enough the threesome encounter Damaramu. At first, the solider just wants to eat Pia's pet, Mappy (not realizing who Mink is). o and soon enough the threesome encounter Damaramu. At first, the solider just wants to eat Pia's pet, Mappy (not realizing who Mink is). But, Damaramu quickly learns Mink's identity and the battle is on. They fight until Damaramu is defeated, and his mount, the bird Roshi, becomes lunch for the three friends.
With Damaramu defeated, the King turns to Dick Saucer. He convinces the singer/swordsman that Mink is a dangerous red dragon that disguises itself as a fan girl just to get close to him. Saucer accepts the task and heads off in search of Mink. At the same time, Mink is smiling back at her camp and the other girls ask way. Mink replies it is because she has a feeling that something good is about to happen. A freeze frame appears and a voice over announces that Mink is a rotten fortune teller. This is where the episode ends.
Episode 2: The Brutal Killer Martial Arts Tournament
The second episode opens to find our heroines splashing about in a clear stream. Lufa and Mink are having a great time. Pia decides to dive into the fun but promptly sinks to the bottom, weighted down by her armor. The other two girls rescue her and take her shore. While they are recovering, Dick Saucer approaches from the nearby forest, singing his "red dragon" song.
The girls are starstruck when he enters the clearing. Saucer immediately recognizes Mink and prepares for a fight. But, he soon finds himself surround by three very ecstatic girls, yelling "Hurray, Saucer, Hurray, Hurray!" Saucer is first confused by the actions of the "red dragon" but then remembers the King's warning that the dragon will disguise itself as a young girl to get in closer for the kill. Saucer stops the chanting girls and tells them he is only interested in Mink. The girls, of course, take this in a totally different way than the hapless singer/swordsman meant. Finally, Saucer draws his sword and attacks.
He slashes with the sword and launches balls of energy at Mink, but she dodges each blow. Saucer increases his efforts and manages to catch Mink at a vulnerable moment. But, before he can land a telling blow, a jewel on his chest begins to blink and beep. "My concert," he cries, "I'm late." He then tells Mink that they will continue this battle at another time, and he departs.
Mink slumps to the ground, crestfallen. She waggles her wings and tail and moans how much trouble they are. Then she stands up and announces, with new resolve, that she will find the "people potion" and become the right (and, more important, human) girl for Saucer.
Back at the castle, the king and Rosario are mulling over what to do next. The King had hoped that Damaramu would have succeeded and now needed a new idea to deal with Mink. Rosario comes up with the idea to lure Mink into joining the "Brutal Killer Martial Art Tournament." He reasons that with the contest being filled with the most blood thirsty monster throughout the kingdom, Mink would be easily killed in the battle. He also adds that it would be quite easy to trick Mink into joining as the King is the sponsor of the event. As they chortle over their evil plan, Vina enters. The king recounts "his plan" to his daughter and she agrees that it is a very good idea. She then tells then that she will participate as well.
The king puts his plan into action, and it is not long before Mink is tricked. She and her friends need to get on a plane to go to the area where the people potions are located but are dismayed to learn that the ticket will cost 50,000 gamels. They only have 500 gamels between them. Lufa suggest they could make the money but "selling" nights with Mink, which Mink rejects quite forcefully. The ticket vendor, a secret agent of the King, suggests that they enter the Brutal Killer Contest to earn the money and off they go.Mink walks up to the entrance to the contest and is mistaken for a spectator.
But after she announces her intention to enter the battle, she asked to passed a "screening fight." The judge pulls back a curtain to reveal a huge minotaur. Mink defeats the giant in mere seconds and passes on into the competition.
Inside the arena, the king receives an update on Mink's progress. He then asks Rosario what the next move should be. Rosario tells the King not to worry and produces a bottle labeled "ex lax."
Down in the forecourt, Mink and the girls look over other competitors. As they talk about how tough they look, Saucer walks by. Saucer and Mink react with shock at seeing each other here. Mink then asks for an autograph. Saucer sniffs and turns to walk away. Just then, Rosario, disguised as an old lady, offers a "stamina drink" to Mink. Lufa advises that she should not take it, as it is probably a laxative or poison. Rosario is shocked that he plan was so easily discovered but recovers quickly when Mink takes the drink.
But Mink has other plans. She chases after Saucer and presents the bottle to him as a gift. Saucer accepts and walks off. Rosario's jaw drops to the ground as he slinks away. The Vina makes her appearance. She taunts Mink and lets loose a spell that causes clothes pin to pinch Pia, Mappy and Lufa all over their bodies. Mink responds by clobbering Vina with a giant clothes pin. Vina departs, vowing revenge.
Now the battles begin.
Saucer is first up, and first to lose, thanks to the laxative. Next up is Mink. She is slated to fight the rebuilt Damaramu. But, the king and Rosario interfere and sting Mink with a numbing poison bug. It looks bad for Mink but Damaramu runs out of steam before he can finish the job. So he calls for the "mecha-roshi" to help him. Bu the robotic bird is too small. Then Damaramu remembers his fail safe weapon, the ultra bomb. He launches the missile, but it hits mecha-roshi. The resulting explosion knocks Damaramu out of the ring and Mink is declared the winner.
The next battle is Vina's, and she wins with a single fireball. Then we see a collage of battles as Mink, Vina and a young warlock named Dug Fin advance. The second to last battle is between Vina and Dug Fin, which Dug Fin wins. This set ups the final conflict, which features Mink verses Dug Fin.
At first, the battle does not go well for Mink. She is battered by tremendous blows from the Fin by fire and lighting blasts. It looks like Mink has finally met her match. But after Fin causes Mink's top to fall off, he triggers a powerful anger in the young girl.
She had promised herself that Saucer would be the first to see her bare body. Fin, his back turned, continues to gloat while Mink builds up a powerful energy force. She then strikes with her "raging dragon punch." This sends Dug Fin flying into the lava (while destroying most of the ring as well) thus making Mink the winner. Lufa and Pia cheer in celebration while the King and Rosario wail in frustration. This is where Dragon Half ends.
