Review:

Devadasy is a Neon Genesis Evangelion knockoff - it's not quite a clone nor is it a blatant copy. In this world, young men and women are necessary to pilot the giant robots that will save the Earth from invasion. The twist? The power to motivate these huge machines comes from the sexual tension/energy between the right man and the right women. It is this sexual aspect that earns Devadasy it's adult rating here.

Devadasy is a three episode OAV that explored a different corner of the Evangelion universe. The characters are okay and the animation is satisfactory. The story will leave some uncomfortable due to the sexual energy aspect but it is otherwise unremarkable. Devadasy did not catch the public's interest and therefore the story remains incomplete, as there are no other episodes or volumes in this series.

Volume 1: "Volume 1" Plot Summary:

Kei is a normal teenage boy living in dangerous times. A generic alien life form has, once again, decided that Japan is to its liking and attacked. Once again, the Japanese military is unprepared and completely overwhelmed, so it falls on the shoulders, once again, of Japan's youth to rush and save the world using super-secret future technology robots.

Kei is recruited to join Spirit, a quasi-military organization where is he is to pilot the Devadasy, a giant robot capable of defeating the aliens. Devadasy requires both a male and female pilot and the "compatibility" between the two is the key to its success.

So, can Kei save world? Only if he can find the one girl that can make his blood boil, so to speak, and that is the crux of the anime.
