An exciting fusion of 3D graphics and traditional 2D cell animation, Blue Submarine No. 6 is ambitious and adventurous. Based on an enviromentally themed cold war era manga, Gonzo, the Japanese animation studio has done a remarkable job bringing the story to life.

Set in the not-so-distance future, the oceans and seas of Earth have risen to flood the cities as the result of the actions a single madman. The same evil genius has laos created new life forms by fusing men with sea creatures. Man, not willing to go quietly, responds with a fleet of highly sophisicated submarines, intent on destroying the mandman's antartic base.

Stunning 3D animation and fluid, richly detailed cell work are successfully combined to create a thoroughly engaging experience. A wonderous score adds the perfect finishing touch. This is a series that will be popular with just about anyone - anime fan or not.

Volume 1: "Blues" Plot Summary:

In the near future, the seas have risen to cover most of the Earth. This is the handiwork of one man, Dr. Zorndyke who has also created a new hybrid man-marine mammal species that roam the oceans. These new inhabitants of the sea are locked in battle with the survivors of the floods.

To defend themselves from Zorndyke's forces the survivors have created a fleet of special attack submarines. Blue Submarine No. 6 is one of these amazing crafts. Capable of incredible maneuvers, it takes on the challenge of fighting it's way through adversity while it is on it's way to Zorndyke's base in an effort to prevent further destruction at the madman's hands.
