A lighthearted anime that gives the viewer a look behind the curtain at how anime is made, Animation Runner Kuromi is 40 minutes of laughs and fun.
Featuring Akitaroh Daichi's trademark breezy comic style, the film moves a brisk pace. The director's goal is to entertain, not educate, and he accomplishes that brilliantly. The characters slip fluidly from a "normal" appearance to amoebas and back again and the voice performances keep pace.
Overall, a delightful treat for any self-proclaimed Otaku.
Volume 1: "Animation Runner Kuromi" Plot Summary:
Mikiko Oguro, fresh out of the Greater Tokyo Animation Academy, is starting her first job. She arrives at Studio Petite only to discover that the production manager is deathly ill, the staff is nowhere to be found and the deadline is only days away. And, oh yeah, you are now in charge of the production.
Ack! Will Mikiko make it? Can she wrangle a hodge-podge collection of freelance animators to produce over 300 drawings in just 3 days? Or maybe an office lady's life isn't all that bad...
