Review:

Great fun! All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku is a light hearted comedy that does not fail to entertain. Filled with laughs and spoofs on many anime stereotypes, this is great series to watch for both "newbies" and long time fans. All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku has better than average character designs, color work and animation with a very original story. It also has both catchy opening and closing themes with Nuku Nuku's voice and the songs performed by anime voice actress superstar, Megumi Hayashibara.

Volume 1: "All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" Plot Summary:

In the first episode, Kyusaku, a brilliant scientist and his son Ryunosuke are on the run from his estranged wife, Akiko. Tucked in the back of their truck is Kyusaku's greatest invention, an android. During a rest stop, Ryunosuke discovers a small gray cat. He brings it back and through a chain of events, the kitty is mortally wounded. Kyusaku cannot bear to see his son heartbroken so he comes up with a novel solution; put the brain of the cat into the body of his android and so Nuku Nuku is born.

In the second episode, Kyusaku and Ryunosuke have Nuku Nuku to protect them, so they decide to settle down and lead more normal lives. But, Akiko and her henchwomen continue to try to find ways to get Ryunosuke back. Who knew that child custody battles could be so entertaining?

The third episode finds Kyusaku, Ryunosuke, and Akiko living a warped version of the traditional Japanese family. A mockup of a typical Japanese apartment has been built in a cavernous ballroom on the Mishima estate and Akiko is doing her best to play the role of a tradtional Japanese housewife. Unfortunately, it proves to be too much for her and the usual hijinks erupt.

The fourth episode takes place on Mother's Day. Ryunosuke wishes to spend it with his mom but an new creation from Mishima Heavy Industries throws a wrench in the works. Will Nuku Nuku be able to defeat it before the day is over so little Ryunosuke can deliver his gift?

In the fifth episode, after destroying Ryunosuke's bike in an accident, Nuku Nuku gets a job as a family restaurant waitress. Of course, when Nuku Nuku is on the job, mayhem can not be far behind. This time it arrives in the form of the frustrated office ladies Arisa and Kyouko. Let's just say that "deep fried" and "well done" get new definitions after this episode.

In the sixth and final episode of the OAV series, takes Nuku Nuku and Emi into space. The adventure begins with Nuku Nuku making scarves and somehow ends up with Akiko the target of a space-based laser. Someone is removed from the face of the Earth as result of this action packed episode!
