Review:

Tsui Hark, the Hong Kong action director, has successfully applied his trademark style of "perpetual motion" to this anime adaptation of his original live action film. A Chinese Ghost Story is a story of love conquering all that is filled with action, comedy, and hummable tunes which combine perfectly to create family fun for everyone.

Volume 1: "A Chinese Ghost Story" Plot Summary:

A Chinese Ghost Story is one of love conquering all, set in a fanciful world. It follows the adventures of Ning and his little dog, Solid Gold who have set out to find the lost love of his life, Siu Lan. To earn money along the way, he accepts the job of debt collector.

Almost immediately, Ning finds himself meeting ghosts, priests and exorcists as he wanders across the country in search of Siu Lan. This takes his journey into ever more fanciful realms where Ning rides on a flying dragon and even faces the afterlife.
